Product Care

The objects we bring into our homes are meant to be used, lived with and loved.

Many of the pieces at Camino Botánica are made by hand using natural materials and traditional processes. Small variations, irregularities and signs of wear are part of their character—and, over time, part of their story.

A little thoughtful care will help your pieces age beautifully and stay with you for years to come.

Textiles

Cotton + Linen
Wash in cold water with a mild detergent on a gentle cycle. Air dry when possible, or tumble dry on low. Avoid bleach. Warm iron as needed.

For hand-stitched, naturally dyed or particularly delicate textiles, hand washing or dry cleaning may be recommended. Always refer to the individual product description when specific care instructions are provided.

Vintage + Hand-Stitched Textiles
Vintage fabrics may show variations, patches, fading or other evidence of their previous life. We consider these details part of what makes each piece unique.

Wash gently in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean when recommended by the maker. Avoid bleach and high heat.

Baskets + Natural Fibers

Our handwoven baskets are made from natural fibers such as sisal, palm and other plant materials.

Keep baskets dry and avoid prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. Dust with a soft cloth or brush. For small marks, gently wipe with a slightly damp cloth and allow to air dry completely.

Natural fibers may soften, deepen in color or change slightly with use. This is part of the way handmade materials age.

If a basket becomes misshapen, lightly mist it with water, gently reshape it by hand and allow it to dry completely in its desired form.

Ceramics

Handmade ceramics naturally vary in shape, glaze and surface. Unless otherwise noted by the maker, we recommend hand washing to help preserve your piece over time.

Avoid sudden changes in temperature, which can cause handmade ceramics to crack. Pieces with metallic details, unglazed surfaces or delicate finishes should not be placed in the dishwasher or microwave.

Please refer to individual product descriptions for food-safety, dishwasher and microwave recommendations.

Wood + Serving Pieces

Hand wash wooden utensils, boards and serving pieces with mild soap and warm water. Do not soak or place in the dishwasher.

Dry promptly and thoroughly. Occasionally conditioning unfinished wood with a food-safe wood oil or wax can help prevent drying and preserve its natural finish.

Paper Goods

Keep paper goods away from moisture, prolonged direct sunlight and excessive humidity. Store flat or upright in a dry place.

Because many of our paper goods are printed or made in small batches, slight variations in color and printing may occur.

Botanical + Body Care

Store botanical and body-care products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Follow any maker-specific instructions on the packaging and discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Natural products may vary slightly in color, scent or texture from batch to batch.

A Note About Handmade Goods

Handmade does not mean perfectly uniform—and we think that is part of its beauty.

Variations in color, weave, glaze, stitching, grain, shape and size are natural characteristics of pieces made by hand and from natural materials. They are not considered flaws.

Whenever possible, we include care instructions from the individual maker on each product page. If you’re unsure how to care for something you purchased from Camino Botánica, please reach out. We’re always happy to help you find the best way to care for it.
