Summer Market Season in Santa Fe

One of the things I love most about Santa Fe is the way creativity spills out into the streets each summer.

Artists, makers, farmers, collectors, musicians, cooks, gardeners and entrepreneurs gather to share their work, their stories and the traditions that shape our community. 

As Camino Botanica begins its first season, I hope to participate in a handful of local gatherings while also exploring many of the events that have inspired me for years. If you're spending time in Santa Fe this summer, here are a few wonderful places to experience the artistry, craftsmanship and sense of community that make this city special.

Santa Fe Farmers' Market, Saturdays

A year-round favorite and one of the largest farmers' markets in the country, the Santa Fe Farmers' Market brings together growers, ranchers, bakers, food producers, and artisans from across Northern New Mexico. It's one of my favorite places to witness the changing seasons through flowers, vegetables, herbs and the people who cultivate them.

Railyard Artisan Market, Saturday and Sundays

Located in the heart of the Railyard District, this market showcases local artists and craftspeople working across a wide range of mediums. From ceramics and jewelry to textiles, painting, and woodwork, it's a wonderful opportunity to meet makers directly and learn more about their creative process.

Santa Fe International Folk Art Market, July 9 – 12th

One of Santa Fe's most celebrated events, the Folk Art Market welcomes artists from around the globe to share handmade work rooted in cultural traditions and community. It's an inspiring reminder that craft, creativity and storytelling transcend borders while remaining deeply connected to place. I especially love the Saturday Night Market, inspired by open-air bazaars worldwide, featuring music, food and of course, shopping. Traditional Spanish Market, July 25 & 26th

Celebrating centuries of artistic tradition, Spanish Market honors the craftsmanship and cultural heritage of New Mexico through woodworking, tinwork, weaving, pottery, painting, and other traditional arts. It's one of the city's most beloved summer events and a powerful reminder of the living traditions that continue to shape the region.

Whitehawk Antique Indian & Ethnographic Art Show, August 6 – 9th

For collectors, designers and lovers of global artistry, Whitehawk offers an extraordinary gathering of antique textiles, jewelry, ethnographic objects, tribal art and cultural artifacts from around the world. The show brings together remarkable objects and stories from diverse traditions and cultures.

Santa Fe Indian Market, August 15 – 16th

The largest and most prestigious Indigenous art market in the world, Indian Market transforms downtown Santa Fe into a vibrant celebration of Native artistry. Visitors can meet artists, learn about cultural traditions and experience contemporary and traditional works across jewelry, textiles, pottery, painting, sculpture, fashion and more.
